Abu Dhabi: The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has forecasted a shift in the weather beginning this Sunday, with a developing upper-air trough bringing with it high winds and patches of rain.
NCM has issued an alert for tonight indicating that there may be light to moderate rainfall due to an increase in cloud cover. There’s a possibility of stronger downpours interspersed with lightning and thunder, which would cause the temperature to noticeably decrease.
The report cautioned of potential risks even though it is anticipated that the rain will stop by Tuesday night.
Strong winds that change direction from south-easterly to north-easterly and finally northwesterly are also predicted. These winds, which are characterized as moderate to fresh with the potential to reach powerful gusts, might produce sandstorms and flying dust, severely impairing road visibility.
It is advised that drivers use caution and pay attention to the changing weather.
“The low-pressure system will be associated with a humid Southeasterly wind and accompanied by an upper air low pressure from the Northwest, with a flow of different amounts of clouds from the west and southwest,” NCM reported.
The Arabian Gulf will have mild to moderate waves that occasionally might get severe or extremely harsh due to the impact, especially during times of high cloud cover. There will also likely be choppy waters in the Oman Sea, particularly when convective clouds are present.
Two weeks before, the UAE experienced heavy rain, temperature drops, and thunderstorm alerts, which lead into flooding in the key cities. However, the bad weather eased just before the beginning of Ramadan.
