Dubai: Dubai has solidified its position as a premier international maritime center, climbing to the 11th spot globally in the 2024 Leading Maritime Cities (LMC) report. This marks an advancement from its previous ranking, placing it at the forefront in the Arab world.
The report, unveiled in Singapore by DNV and Menon Economics, acknowledges Dubai’s strengths across various maritime facets, including shipping, technology, and logistics.
The improvement in Dubai’s ranking is credited to its performance in critical areas such as shipping centers, maritime technology, and logistics, as well as its focus on green technology in the sector.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), attributed this success to the Dubai Maritime Authority’s initiatives under PCFC and the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Under the guidance of the Dubai Maritime Authority, strategic plans and collaborations with global maritime leaders have been instrumental in boosting Dubai’s maritime competitiveness and sustainability. Dr. Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al-Maktoum, Executive Director of the DMA, highlighted the Authority’s focus on research, safety, and environmental standards as key to their global leadership in the sector.
While Singapore continues to lead as the top maritime city globally, Dubai’s advancements reflect its growing influence and commitment to excellence in the maritime industry, reinforcing its status as a hub for security, stability, and innovation in maritime services.
