Ajman’s tourism sector has experienced robust growth, with a 7% increase in total tourism revenue in the first quarter of 2024. This growth was propelled by a 3% rise in hotel occupancy rates and an impressive 9% surge in visitor numbers compared to the same period last year, according to the Ajman Tourism Development Department.
The average duration of hotel stays in the emirate also saw a 5% increase. This positive trend in tourism metrics comes as Ajman prepares to participate in the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024, scheduled from May 6-9 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The Department stated its objectives for the upcoming event include showcasing Ajman’s rich cultural heritage and diverse tourism offerings. It also aims to attract strategic partners to help enhance cooperation and solidify Ajman’s status as a leading global tourism destination.
Reflecting on the previous year, October 2023 was particularly strong for Ajman’s tourism, registering a 5% increase in tourism activities. This led to a significant 11% rise in visitor numbers and a corresponding 5% growth in revenue per available room (RevPAR), culminating in an 11% increase in total annual revenue.
