Ajman: The Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD) has entered into a collaboration with Renie, a leading environmental solutions provider, for smart sustainable plastic bottle waste management. This collaboration intends to address the pressing issue of plastic bottle waste management in the emirate.
This strategic move aligns with the UAE’s commitment towards sustainable development. The alliance also aims to provide effective solutions for residents and visitors. Further, it will encourage the implementation of sustainable practices.
Mr. Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director-General of ADTD, welcomed Mr. Jorden Jackers, the COO of Renie, in a meeting held at the department headquarters. The meeting highlights the official nature of this promising partnership.
The initiative also throws light on Ajman’s dedication to sustainable tourism practices. It focuses on improving the overall experience for residents and visitors. The sustainable culture of the emirate is evident in the effort to support local communities and promote environmental solutions for companies and investors through such initiatives.
Plastic waste has become a global concern and ADTD acknowledges the threat of plastic bottle accumulation and its detrimental effects on ecosystems worldwide. Recognizing the importance of action in that regard, the collaboration with Renie aims to implement an integrated system for collecting plastic bottles at tourism facilities across the emirate.
The initiative will function through collection boxes in hotel properties throughout the emirate. The boxes installed by Renie will offer practical solutions for both visitors and the local community. The objective of such an action is to encourage the adoption of sustainable practices in areas like plastic bottle disposal. It also aims to attract strategic partners and ensure community participation to contribute towards environmental preservation.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the initiative, Mr. Alhashmi emphasized the department’s view of sustainable tourism as a crucial element for a prosperous future. The Director General of ADTD, praised the efforts made to achieve balanced economic growth while prioritizing environmental care and societal well-being. Mr. Alhashmi stated that, “Through our collaboration with Renie, we aim to set a positive example for society and motivate other organizations to adopt sustainable practices.”

ADTD invites all partners, particularly from the hotel and hospitality sector, to actively engage in this initiative. Renie will provide plastic bottle collection boxes in their work areas. In addition, the Renie team will also offer comprehensive details about the assembly system to all interested parties.
