Abu Dhabi: The International Council on Archives (ICA) Congress will take place for the first time in the Middle East, with Abu Dhabi hosting the event from October 9–13, 2023. The event, themed ‘Enriching Knowledge Societies,’ will be organized by the National Library and Archives at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
The ICA Congress in Abu Dhabi in 2023 will focus on the importance of information availability and accessibility in modern society. The upcoming sessions will focus on sub-themes including peace and tolerance, emerging techniques, electronic records, electronic solutions, trust and evidence, Access and memories, sustainable knowledge, sustainable planet, archives and records, and climate change.
We are honored to host this extraordinary global event in the UAE, which symbolizes the country’s dedication to cultural heritage preservation and the strengthening of the archives sector. To make these efforts a reality, the UAE has embraced the latest worldwide archiving procedures and practices and trained expert personnel in this field. The ICA Congress provides a platform for experts to share industry knowledge, insights, and proposals for the advancement of archival science.

Over 5,000 participants from more than 130 nations are expected to attend the event, along with 50 companies and 15 exhibiting countries. The event will serve as a premier forum for participants from around the world to network and explore collaboration opportunities.
The cultural program of the congress includes organizing a series of visits for the participating delegations to a set of heritage and cultural sites, civilizational landmarks, and distinguished destinations in Abu Dhabi. The primary goal of the program is to showcase the emirate’s distinctive elements and elevate its global cultural and tourism prominence.
