Abu Dhabi: The latest weather changes and their possible effects on the nation were discussed during a meeting of the Joint Weather and Tropical Assessment Team.
The National Center for Meteorology (NCM), the Ministry of Interior (MoI), and other capable government agencies were present at the conference, which was chaired by the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA).
To protect public safety and minimize interruptions, they emphasized the significance of upholding business continuity plans and continuously observing the current weather situation.
The nation is expected to see local convective rain clouds during the day until Wednesday, according to the NCM, which stated that the current weather event is less severe than the previous one. There’s a chance that little hail will start to fall in the eastern areas and spread to the interior and western areas. The NCM predicts scattered areas of moderate to heavy rain, with sporadic lightning and thunder, from Wednesday night through Thursday. Small hail is also possible, with the greatest concentration expected in the western, coastal, and eastern regions.
Cloud cover will lessen on Friday and Saturday, and there’s a chance of continuous light to medium rain—which could be particularly heavy in certain eastern and southern areas.
According to the MoI, the Supreme Committee for Internal Security, which is led by the Undersecretary of the Ministry, is working in full coordination with the Joint Weather and Tropical Assessment Team. It is also keeping a close eye on the latest developments and updates regarding the weather situation to evaluate the potential effects of the situation on the areas of the nation that could be impacted, particularly since the nation is currently recovering from the previous weather situation.
The Ministry stated that it has prepared response plans and business continuity plans for critical sectors and that it has taken all proactive steps to support response operations, including providing the required resources and capabilities in the areas that are likely to be impacted by the weather situation, which is predicted to have a moderate to high impact on various parts of the country.
The MoI calls on the public to exercise caution, abide by safety standards and guidelines, comply with the directives of the competent authorities, refrain from spreading rumors, and rely on official sources for information, with a priority on community safety and the protection of lives and property.
The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has taken all required precautions in advance of the weather to guarantee the security of roads and dams, particularly those that store water, while also improving the efficiency of these structures. These precautions include cleaning water drains and releasing water to ease pressure and make room for fresh precipitation. The Ministry confirmed that cutting-edge technology and techniques utilized in dam management are essential to improving their effectiveness and facilitating quick decisions when rainwater flows, floods, and flash floods in valleys are being monitored.
The Ministry also emphasized the use of contemporary technology in the analysis and very accurate calculation of water flow rates, volumes, and depths. After then, the control and monitoring section of the Ministry receives this data for processing and analysis.
