Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center is hosting the 33rd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), which opened today and runs until May 5.
Under the patronage of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, 1350 publishers from 90 countries, 140 of whom are taking part for the first time, will be present at the book exhibition.
The 12 nations that will be participating for the first time at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2024 are Brazil, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Greece, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Pakistan, Cyprus, Mozambique, and Turkmenistan.
In addition to providing the audience with a wide range of cultural events and activities, this year’s fair will be the first in the fair’s history to use a comprehensive digital payment system.
The Arab Republic of Egypt is the honored guest of this year’s exhibition, offering a rich and varied cultural program that reflects its historical knowledge, intellectualism, and civilization.
Famous Arab and international novelist Naguib Mahfouz has also been selected by the ADIBF as this year’s “Focus Personality” in honor of his noteworthy contributions and accomplishments that have long raised awareness of Arabic literature and Arab culture. The celebration this year honors the first Arab writer to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature and make a lasting impression via his creative output.
