Abu Dhabi: The Federal National Council (FNC) has convened its tenth meeting for the first regular session of the eighteenth legislative term, chaired by Saqr Ghobash, the FNC Speaker.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of the Interior; Minister of Health and Prevention and State Minister for Federal National Council Affairs, Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais; and Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, were present at the session.
The session discussed the Ministry of Interior’s (MoI) policy on combating drugs.
During the discussion, Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed said that, “Psychoactive substances and narcotic drugs are a serious plague that has become a global challenge to the stability, security, and cohesion of societies. Heavenly laws unanimously agree on the necessity of protecting and preserving human life, as the mind is a divine blessing that distinguishes humans from other creatures.”
Humans are the cornerstone and engine of progress, thus taking care of them has been and will continue to be a major priority for “our wise leadership since the foundation of the United Arab Emirates until today,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
The President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, expressed this when he remarked, “The true wealth of the nation is its citizens.” It is our collective responsibility as legislators and executive branch officials to do everything within our power to minimize any harm that could endanger any part of society to protect this human being’s psychological, mental, and social well-being.”
Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar responded to the issues posed by FNC by saying that the government of the United Arab Emirates is dedicated to helping People of Determination and protecting their rights in all spheres of society, including social, health, education, and employment.
He went on to provide further details about the initiatives put in place to assist working moms and guardians of disabled children in the private sector, emphasizing economic empowerment and increasing the involvement of working women.
