Abu Dhabi: An Emirati field hospital will be established in the Gaza Strip following an order by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The hospital aims to provide medical support to Palestinians.
This initiative comes as part of a ‘Gallant Knight 3’ humanitarian operation, which the UAE President ordered to be implemented.
Five aircraft carrying essential supplies for the field hospital have departed from Abu Dhabi International Airport. It will reach the Al-Arish Airport in Egypt before taking off for the Gaza Strip.
The field hospital will have various departments, including general surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, and gynecology, in addition to anesthesia and intensive care units. The hospital has a 150-bed capacity. The facility will also house clinics for internal medicine, dentistry, psychiatry, and family medicine. Supplementary services will include CT imaging, a laboratory, a pharmacy, and other medical support functions.
This initiative reflects the UAE’s solidarity with Palestinians. UAE leaders are frequently having diplomatic talks with world leaders to end the dreadful situation in Gaza. Last week, the UAE warned of the risk of a regional spillover from the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, stating that it was working relentlessly to secure a humanitarian ceasefire.
The UAE recently pledged $20 million in emergency aid for the Palestinian people. The Emirates also introduced a program to bring around 1,000 Palestinian children from Gaza, along with their families, to receive medical treatment in the UAE hospitals.
Moreover, a community relief campaign for Palestinians affected by the current conflict has been launched in the UAE under the slogan ‘Compassion for Gaza.’
