Dubai: The Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who also serves as the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has issued Decree No. (35) of 2024, establishing the “Dubai Council”. Sheikh Mohammed will chair the newly formed council.
According to the decree, the council’s First Vice Chairman will be H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, while the Second Vice Chairman will be H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The council will also include prominent members such as H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, and H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Other distinguished members include Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, who will hold the additional role of Secretary-General of the Council, Talal Humaid Belhoul, Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, and Helal Saeed Al Marri.
The formation of the “Dubai Council” follows Law No. (21) of 2021 and aims to steer the emirate’s future development agenda. The council’s primary objectives include enhancing Dubai’s global competitiveness and leadership appeal through launching significant innovative projects and transformational initiatives. These efforts are directed towards improving the quality of life for all citizens, residents, and visitors of Dubai.
