Abu Dhabi: TRENDS Research and Advisory has participated in the “First Africa World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR) SSA conference” recently convened in Mombasa, Kenya.
The conference’s theme, “Shaping a Sustainable Future: Lessons and Legacies from Opinion Polling in Africa,” emphasized how important it is to use opinion polls to guide sustainable development initiatives through a variety of challenging social, economic, and environmental issues.
It primarily looked at how these surveys might help determine development priorities and track advancement toward attaining sustainable development objectives.
Over the course of its four days, the conference covered a wide range of topics, including advancements in the area as well as the lessons and legacies of opinion surveys in Africa. It also looked at how important opinion surveys are to sustainable development.
The conference featured sessions that emphasized the need of diversity in public opinion research endeavors and the changing influence of digital technologies on this field. The incorporation of multiple voices and viewpoints, particularly those of women and youth, was specifically emphasized.
A research report titled “The Attitudes of Arab Maghreb Youth towards Reform and Change” was presented by Dr. Mohammed Farid Azzi, who is a Scientific Advisor at TRENDS and works in the Global Barometer Department.
