Sharjah: The House of Wisdom (HoW) in Sharjah has signed a cooperation agreement with the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS).
It aims to spearhead the upcoming “Takwin: Science and Creativity” exhibition in Sharjah. It is scheduled to be held on December 6, 2023, and run for a duration of three months.
Under the agreement, the HoW will be granted the honor of presenting a carefully curated assortment of genuine historical manuscripts and invaluable artifacts held by the KFCRIS.
The agreement was signed by Ms. Marwa Al Aqroubi from the HoW and Mr. Ibrahim Aldeghaither from the KFCRIS. Discussions were held regarding the loaning process of manuscripts to the House of Wisdom.
There were also talks about enhancing future collaboration and promoting cultural and knowledge exchange between these esteemed institutions. Mr. Al Aqroubi stated that this agreement strengthens the cooperative relationship between the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“It is a significant step towards enhancing cultural and scientific exchange with a renowned cultural and scientific center in the region, fulfilling the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in making Sharjah a hub for culture and heritage, and introducing young generations to the rich Islamic intellectual history in various sciences and arts,” Mr. Al Aqroubi added.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Prince Turki AlFaisal, KFCRIS Chairman; Princess Maha bint Mohammed AlFaisal, KFCRIS Secretary-General; Prince Khalid bin Saud Abdullah AlFaisal, Director of Faisal Family Archives (Dārat Āl Faiṣal); and Mr. Ibrahim Aldeghaither, Assistant to the KFCRIS Secretary-General.
The ‘Takwin’ exhibition is set to display impressive assortments of ancient Islamic manuscripts, emphasizing the groundbreaking efforts of early Muslim scholars in safeguarding human civilization and propelling understanding across various domains like astronomy, medicine, engineering, mathematics, and zoology.
