Astana: Mäulen Äşimbaev, the Chairman of the Kazakh Senate, and Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, have met in Astana to analyze ways to work together to improve interfaith and intercivilizational interaction on a global scale.
Both sides underlined during the conference how important it would be to coordinate the efforts of religious leaders and figures in order to effectively address the most critical issues facing the world today. In order to carry out a number of upcoming collaborative projects, they declared their wish for more collaboration between the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Muslim Council of Elders.
The Secretary-General emphasized that Kazakhstan’s hosting of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions has developed into a global forum for fostering communication and mutual understanding amongst various religious leaders and personalities.
Abdelsalam further praised the support of the Chairman of the Senate and the Congress’ Secretary-General in Kazakhstan for establishing an office for the Muslim Council of Elders in Astana. This office aims to spread its message aimed at promoting peace and spreading the values of dialogue, tolerance, and coexistence.
Dr. Mäulen Äşimbaev praised the leading role played by the Muslim Council of Elders over the past ten years in promoting a culture of peace, unity, and religious tolerance. Äşimbaev congratulated the Council on the success of the Global Faith Leaders Summit on Climate Action it organized in collaboration with the COP28 Presidency last November and the organization of the Faith Pavilion at COP28 for the first time in the history of COP meetings.
