AAl Dhafra: Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, has attended the UAE Barakah Exercise 2023 at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in Al Dhafra Region.
Staff Major General Pilot Mr. Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Abu Dhabi Police Commander-in-Chief, and several senior officials received Sheikh Hamdan.
During his visit, Sheikh Hamdan learned about the national emergency response system of the nuclear energy sector. Subsequently, he visited the operations center to observe the exercise and inspect a field hospital and other equipment. Moreover, the Ruler’s Representative also examined the vehicles participating in the exercise.
Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the UAE’s readiness and effectiveness in the peaceful nuclear sector, emphasizing their quick response to potential threats and risks. He also commended the efforts and efficiency of the participants in the exercise.
The Ruler’s Representative remarked that the exercise was a success due to the cooperation of all relevant sectors.
The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority supervised the exercise. It simulated emergency scenarios at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant and Al Dhafra Region. The aim was to assess preparedness for rapidly responding to these situations, aligning with advanced international safety, security, and transparency practices.
The UAE Barakah Exercise 2023 was organized by Abu Dhabi Police in collaboration with a number of various strategic stakeholders, including the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Deference, the Ministry of Health and Prevention, the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation, the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police, the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, the Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Centre for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Nawah Energy Company, and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
The 2023 UAE Barakah Exercise has focused on safety, credibility, and transparency at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in Abu Dhabi. This plant plays a vital role in diversifying energy resources and supplying energy to homes, businesses, and government facilities, all while reducing carbon emissions throughout the UAE.
