Abu Dhabi: Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council has approved the establishment of a specialized medical city dedicated to the health of women and children in Abu Dhabi. The infrastructure for the medical city will include Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for pediatric care, the Corniche Hospital dedicated to the health of women and newborns. Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Centre (ADSCC) has signed a joint research agreement with Kyoto University – Centre for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA) and Rege Nephro- a Japan-based biotech company that specializes in Research, Development and production of renal disease therapeutics. The collaboration aims to revolutionize diabetes care by developing a new innovative treatment using pancreatic beta cells derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells) iPS cells are obtained from skin or blood cells and then reprogrammed (genetically modified) in highly advanced laboratories. Sharjah: The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) has convened a meeting at the Sharjah Ruler’s office, chaired by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of SEC. The Council approved the operation of a transport service between Sharjah and Muscat, Oman. The Sharjah Road and Transport Authority (SRTA) will agree with Oman National Transport Company- Mwasalat to commence the operations. United Arab Emirates: UAE has collaborated with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in order to develop the first space station orbiting the Moon. The collaboration is part of the Lunar Gateway Station project.
