Abu Dhabi: SEHA, or Abu Dhabi Health Services Company and multinational technology company Cisco have revealed that they have successfully completed their pilot project to offer teleconsultation solutions and digitized healthcare services.
The pilot program’s goals are to increase patients’ access to healthcare and make clinician consultations more convenient and rapid.
The pilot project, which is a component of Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) program, was created with the aim of establishing a virtual network of SEHA experts regardless of the SEHA Healthcare Facility (HCF) location they are stationed in.
Remote patients and medical professionals can use virtual consultation sessions for faster, simpler and diagnosis without having to travel to the specialist.
In order to expand medical coverage and minimize physical contact, the initiative makes use of cutting-edge networking, security, and collaboration technologies as well as tools like wearable technology, autonomous robotics, and digital medical carts.
The SEHA Group CEO elaborated that, “This collaboration is a significant addition to our previous and continued efforts to enhance access to healthcare, such as setting up teleconsultation services for mental health that resulted in over 200 patients in the Al Dhafra Region alone receiving virtual therapy. SEHA will continue to be a strong advocate for enhancing patient access and improving health equity across the UAE.”
THE CISCO TECHNOLOGY
A highly secure Cisco network that connects all SEHA facilities is the core of the solution. Patients and SEHA clinicians electronically interact and converse using Cisco Webex, a collaboration tool powered by Cisco’s collaboration technology.
Specialists may provide immediate medical expertise and high-quality patient treatment regardless of location by reviewing real time patient vitals with the aid of biomedical devices and peripherals, much like an onsite consultation.
The pilot project also made it possible for SEHA to evaluate a number of medical use cases, such as remote patient discharge, remote patient ward rounds, tele-stroke diagnostics, and providing remote specialists for emergency rooms.
With a vast network of 11 healthcare facilities in the Abu Dhabi region and more than 60 clinics around the country, SEHA is the biggest healthcare provider in the UAE.
Over five million patients and visitors from other countries are contact SEHA nationwide each year.
