Abu Dhabi: The General Secretariat of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation is partnering with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in the United States of Mexico to organize the 1st Mexico International Date Palm Festival which is expected to take place from the 9th of November to the 13th.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize the association was signed virtually in the presence of Mr. Ahmed Al Menhali, UAE Ambassador to Mexico, Mr. Luis Alfonso Garcia de Alba, Ambassador of Mexico to the UAE, Mr. Santiago Arguelo Campos, General Coordinator of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Mexico and Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, Secretary General of the Khalifa Award.
The participants of the virtual session were welcomed by Mr. Santiago Arguelo Campos, who commended the efforts of the UAE and H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, in order to promote the date palm industry and the cultivation, processing, and marketing of dates at the national, regional, and international levels.
To develop this promising industry and advance the aspirations and objectives of the two friendly nations, Ambassador Al Menhali emphasized the significance of collaboration between the General Secretariat of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation and the Ministry of Agriculture of Mexico which leads to the organization of the 1st Mexico International Date Palm Festival.
Moreover, Ambassador Luis Alfonso Garca de Alba commended the UAE for taking the lead in developing the date production and palm cultivation industries on a national, regional, and global scales due to the sector’s significance in fostering bilateral cooperation to increase food security and gain sustainable development.
Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, noted that the newly signed MoU confirms the international prestige that the award has attained as a result of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan leadership and support.
The Award was established by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, and Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees, as the most important global platform for forming alliances connected to the growth of the date palm industry at the national, regional, and global levels.
