Abu Dhabi: The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre (SZGMC) is ready to welcome masses of worshippers and visitors during the Holy Month of Ramadan 1445.
Over 60,000 worshipers gathered at the mosque on the 27th night of Ramadan to mark Laylat Al Qadr, a major night in the Islamic religion. In Ramadan 1444, the mosque hosted 684,945 attendees and guests.
The SZGMC has established committees and teams to guarantee coordinated and integrated work around-the-clock to satisfy the demands of the substantial number of worshipers and guests by offering a range of first-rate services and amenities.
In addition, it has convened many meetings with key stakeholders, encompassing both public and private organizations, to guarantee the seamless operation of the established work framework throughout the Holy Month.
To enhance the quality of services offered to its visitors and worshippers and to fulfill its social responsibility of promoting volunteerism, the SZGMC recruited more than 580 qualified volunteers. These volunteers collaborate with the Center’s staff, the Emirates Red Crescent, the Absher Ya Watan volunteer team, law enforcement, paramedics, and Civil Defense personnel to offer the best services possible to worshippers, enabling them to offer their prayers with reverence and comfort.
More than 70 electric vehicles were made available by the SZGMC to shuttle attendees from parking areas to prayer places. The elderly and those with strong resolve will be granted priority usage of these vehicles.
Furthermore, the center has made 8,379 parking places available for worshippers—1,500 of which are designated for women and over 60 for those with a strong will. This year, 1,800 more parking places have been added. For worshipers, SZGMC has supplied more than 3,515 seats and 50 wheelchairs.
In an effort to preserve a treasured piece of Emirati cultural history, the Center worked with the Ministry of Defence to fire the cannon that heralded the start of Ramadan in tandem with the Ramadan Moon Sighting Committee. Additionally, throughout the month, the cannon was fired daily at the mosque to indicate the arrival of Eid Al Fitr and to mark the Iftar hour, honoring one of the holy month’s enduring customs that the people of the United Arab Emirates cherish. Additionally, it made it possible for viewers from many cultural backgrounds to see the daily live cannon launching on Abu Dhabi Media TV networks.
