Sharjah: The Friends of Arthritis Patients (FOAP) is gearing up for its 11th annual marathon on February 25th, with ‘Movement is Life’ as its rallying cry. This community event aims to raise awareness about arthritis, support patients, and promote healthy living.
The marathon, organized in collaboration with various government and private entities, offers something for everyone. Participants can choose from five stages based on their age and ability, ranging from a leisurely 1-km walk to a challenging 20-km run.
FOAP hopes this event will not only engage the community in physical activity but also shed light on the challenges faced by arthritis patients. The marathon seeks to highlight the importance of movement in managing the condition and inspire support for those living with it.

Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome, with the marathon featuring five distinct stages to accommodate different age groups and fitness levels. These include a 1-kilometre walk for all ages, a 1-kilometre run for those 8 years and older, a 3.5-kilometre run for individuals 13 and above, a 10-kilometre run for participants 15 and older, and a challenging 20-kilometre run for those aged 16 and up.
The event will culminate in an awards ceremony to honor the winners of the race stages, offering financial rewards for top performers. Additionally, a scientific symposium will be held, featuring contributions from leading rheumatologists, nutritionists, health experts, and athletes, aimed at providing valuable insights into managing arthritis effectively.
