Abu Dhabi: Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, has met with Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, in a working dinner in Abu Dhabi.
The two high-ranking diplomats spoke about the dire developments in the Middle East and the international community’s efforts to forge a long-term truce and bolster aid efforts to fulfill the needs of Gaza Strip population during their discussion.
Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the significance of stepping up regional and global efforts to achieve a ceasefire and safeguard the security and safety of all people, pointing out that the region’s growing extremism, bloodshed, and tension pose a threat to global peace and security.
In addition, he emphasized how crucial it is to work closely together to guarantee that residents in the Gaza Strip receive sufficient and continuous humanitarian aid, while also stepping up measures to lessen the suffering of the Palestinian people.
In a comparable vein, the two ministers spoke about the strategic partnership and friendly ties between their two nations, emphasizing the range of development potential for their respective populations. The two parties also discussed bilateral cooperation in the areas of commerce, investment, and economics.
Sheikh Abdullah commended the two nations for their consistent development in non-oil trade, which climbed by 103.7 percent in 2023. Of the top 10 trading partners for the UAE, Türkiye’s share jumped to 5.1 percent, making it the fastest growing.
“This significant development in non-oil trade exchange is the result of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed by the two countries on March 3, 2023, which entered into force on September 1st of the same year,” Sheikh Abdullah said, stressing on the importance of continuing joint work to further strengthen relations of cooperation and partnership in all fields.
He also reaffirmed that the two nations have solid and expanding ties and that they are eager to forge ahead on prosperous and cutting-edge avenues of collaboration to support their pursuit of all-encompassing and sustainable economic growth.
