Abu Dhabi: Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi (EAD) has signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pure Health. The memorandum aims to conduct specialized studies and Research programs. The collaboration that intends to explore the effect of environmental impacts on public health came up after the recent conclusions of COP 28.
The memorandum makes the cooperation of both parties mandatory. The collaboration aims to prepare studies exploring the interconnection between the environment and public health in Abu Dhabi. In addition, the entities will share collaborative efforts to address critical environmental challenges and their impact on the community’s well-being.
Both parties aim to form working groups to identify specific areas for collaboration. The groups will identify the area based on priorities and focus areas set by Environment Agency Abu Dhabi. The collective will ensure that choices align with the Government policies and objectives to provide a healthy environment for all. The organisations aim to conduct training programmes and knowledge exchange as part of the collaboration. It will aid the sharing of data , research expertise and capacity building initiatives .
Dr. Sheikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of EAD, said that, “Signing this MoU with Pure Health is extremely exciting and relevant because it’s vital that we explore the link between the environment and public health in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. With our expertise in conducting scientific research and our knowledge of the environment, intertwined with Pure Health’s knowledge of public health, we will be able to develop research of the highest scientific standard while applying best practices. We will be conducting specialized studies that show the expected impacts of public health based on projections of environmental elements.”
Mr. Farhan Malik, Founder, and Managing Director of Pure Health, said that the organization recognises the impact of climate change on public health. The organization is not only committed to accelerating climate action but also promoting a new model of care through sustainable methods.Pure Health shares a vision of a future in which sustainability and longevity go hand in hand, aligning with the UAE leadership’s vision.
Both entities will develop detailed whitepapers as part of the collaboration. The document will outline the current and expected heat stress in the environment and its impact on public health. The white paper will also identify any recommended initiatives and projects to mitigate the issue.
The outcomes of the white papers will be used to raise public awareness about the impact of environmental changes on the health of people living in Abu Dhabi. Further, The initiative aims to create a well- informed inclusive society.
