Dubai: The Burj Rashid exhibition, organized in association with the Dubai World Trade Center to commemorate the famous skyscraper that continues to stand as a testament to Dubai’s urban rebirth and continuous growth, has extended its application deadline.
The extended deadline of April 30, 2024, gives Emirati and UAE-based artists, designers, and architects more time to submit their applications.
These individuals were inspired by the tower, which is a testament to Dubai’s ability to adapt to modern changes and continues to symbolize the city’s urban renaissance and long history of developmental progress.
Artists, designers, and architects, whether working alone or in groups, from a variety of creative disciplines, visual, digital, literary, and design, are invited by Dubai Culture to take part in this exhibition, which is made possible by the Sikka Platform. In honor of the Burj Rashid’s 45th anniversary, the exhibition will present a variety of artistic interpretations of the structure.
As a prominent monument in the emirate’s history, the tower is a testament to the visionary leadership of the late Sheikh Rashid, who turned a distant area into a major center for commerce, networking, and business in the area.
Burj Rashid is the first high-rise building in Dubai, completed in 1979. Designed by John R. Harris & Partners, it formed the nucleus for the creation of the Dubai World Trade Centre, the prominent destination for events, exhibitions, and conferences in the emirate. The 149-meter-tall skyscraper, which stood for 20 years as the highest structure in the area, is still featured on the AED 100 bill and represents the development, goals, and aspirations of Dubai.
