Abu Dhabi: Bill Gates, Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has called the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the call, Gates wished Sheikh Al Nahyan continued success and advancement for the UAE and its citizens, as well as congratulated him on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.
Highlighting the significant progress made recently in this field, the President and Gates discussed how to deepen their joint efforts to fight infectious diseases like polio. Additionally, they emphasized how urgent it is to strengthen global initiatives to support communities at risk in their attempts to eradicate diseases that impede their development, well-being, and general quality of life.
The call also highlighted the historic results of the COP28 climate conference, which the United Arab Emirates hosted last year. The conference produced the historic UAE Consensus, which represents a significant turning point in advancing coordinated worldwide efforts to reduce the effects of climate change.
Both parties emphasized how crucial innovation and contemporary technology are to attaining sustainable development, protecting natural resources, and improving sustainable solutions to environmental problems.
The call also covered the substantial efforts that the UAE has undertaken since the start of the crisis to alleviate the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and to facilitate the delivery of relief and medical supplies.
The President thanked Bill Gates for his Eid Al-Fitr greetings. Sheikh Mohamed reiterated the UAE’s commitment to promoting global collaboration and supporting upcoming efforts to combat diseases that pose a threat to communities.
Gates praised the UAE’s noteworthy humanitarian activities, pointing out their enormous influence, in aiding communities worldwide. He also praised His Highness for his crucial roles in the global campaign to eradicate polio and his efforts to support international efforts to combat the illness, which have improved community welfare around the globe.
