Dubai: The UAE Food Bank, an initiative under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, in association with Taya Art Production, has started the ‘Cook of Thousand Meals’ initiative, under which 20 thousand meals were prepared and distributed for Iftar and Suhoor.
In Hatta and Za’beel, Dubai, the program was implemented, and more than thirty volunteers helped with the packing, cooking, and preparation phases. This program aligns with the Bank’s goal of feeding 5 million people during the fasting month of Ramadan.
The program aims to bring together locals and Emirati chefs to work together on food preparation and donation to the Bank. By highlighting the value of keeping food from going to waste and giving it to those in need, this project seeks to promote a feeling of civic duty and collaboration.
Furthermore, the program aims to foster a customer culture that is consistent with the Bank’s constructive and developing vision.
Manal Bin Yaroof, Head of the Executive Team of the UAE Food Bank, stated that, “Our collaboration with private sector partners reflects the eagerness of various segments, groups, and sectors within society to participate in charitable and humanitarian efforts. This collaboration supports the promotion of community responsibility and encouragement of volunteerism, reflecting the values of goodness, generosity, compassion, solidarity, and brotherhood during the holy month of Ramadan.”
A collection of for-profit culinary institutes and businesses funded the initiative and provided all the supplies and tools required to set up kitchens. This assistance was crucial to the program’s success and the accomplishment of its main goals.
Through a variety of programs and sub-campaigns, the UAE Food Bank hopes to provide 166,666 meals every day to its clients throughout the fasting month of Ramadan. These consist of 25 awareness campaigns and the following: “Your Iftar is on Us,” “No for Wasting Food,” “Cook of Thousand Meals,” “Food Parcel,” and “Iftar with the Workers.” Additionally, more than 350 key partners from restaurants, lodging facilities, and businesses will back the Bank’s projects and campaigns.
