Sharjah: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) held a meeting with a delegation from the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) to discuss potential investment opportunities.
The discourse encompassed the feasible avenues for cultivating economic alliances between the two countries, delineating targeted domains of cooperation that address the requirements of entrepreneurs and financiers in both Sharjah and Hong Kong.
In addition, at a discussion at the SCCI headquarters during the visit of the Hong Kong team, the two sides talked about how to improve and expand their collaborative efforts in important potential economic areas, with an emphasis on e-commerce, technology, real estate, and renewable energy.
HE Jonathan Lamport, Chairman of the Asia, Africa, and Middle East Committee of HKGCC, and HE Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI, were present at the meeting.
In attendance were Hamad Al Shamsi, the regional investment promotion manager at the Sharjah Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Office “Invest in Sharjah,” Jamal Saeed Bouzanjal, the director of the SCCI’s corporate communication department, and Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, the assistant director-general for the organization’s business and communication sector.
A large group of businesspeople from the top industrial, food, and commercial companies in the UAE and Hong Kong were also present at the event, along with a number of government officials and representatives from Sharjah government organizations and institutions.
Representatives from a range of specialized businesses involved in construction materials, healthcare, e-commerce, renewable energy, real estate, food, financial services, architectural engineering, and textile manufacturing were part of the Hong Kong delegation that was in town.
Al Awadi emphasized that the meeting is a testament to the Sharjah Chamber’s unwavering commitment to strengthening trade and economic relations between the Asia-Pacific region’s global markets and the Emirate of Sharjah.
The speaker mentioned that the Sharjah Chamber aims to entice enterprises based in Hong Kong to set up shop in Sharjah. This would help to foster strong bilateral ties between the UAE and Hong Kong, which have grown significantly in the past few years.
