Abu Dhabi: Researchers from TRENDS Research and Advisory, the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI), and the Centre for European Policy in France (CEP) gathered to discuss topics about research cooperation and extremism. The two discussions, which were presented in conjunction with the Paris International Book Fair in 2024, covered important African subjects as well.
Researchers and experts from TRENDS and IFRI gathered for the first-ever panel discussion to examine the danger that extremist groups offer to societies and countries as well as the possibility of working together on research on these urgent problems.
When the TRENDS group visited the IFRI offices, talks took place between TRENDS and IFRI on African issues and possible joint ventures. Both parties stated that they intended to formalize their cooperation by signing a cooperation agreement.
During the second panel discussion, researchers from TRENDS collaborated with their French counterparts from the Centre for European Policy to propose ways to improve research and knowledge sharing. Each party provided information about their areas of expertise and possible areas of collaboration.
The panel discussed the importance of exchanging experiences and emphasized the critical role that research and think tanks play in analyzing and forecasting events. It was decided to keep in touch to create an action plan for collaboration that would cover study areas, knowledge and experience sharing, teamwork in project execution, organizing conferences and seminars, and publishing studies and research.
