Abu Dhabi: The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) have inked a key deal with LocationMind, a prominent Japanese firm specializing in research, big data analysis, and geographic information engineering during the 10th session of the Abu Dhabi Japan Economic Council in Abu Dhabi.
In keeping with the futuristic vision of the emirate, the agreement seeks to enhance innovation in the use of data and support traffic analytic activities.
In the ongoing endeavour to foster creativity, investigation, and advancement in the domains of artificial intelligence and data analysis, the accord emphasizes the significance of cooperation and coordination across different domains. Among these are the creation of frameworks for the utilisation of data and the supply of thorough real-time data visualisation and analysis in Abu Dhabi.
The goal of this partnership is to make use of developments in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to improve traffic signal functioning, forecast accidents, and analyze traffic flow and congestion, among other applications.
Using the resources of the Integrated Transport Centre to collect geographical data, the agreement lays out a plan to develop smart city applications, such as dynamic public transport information and alerts on people’s density and movements during events and special occasions.
This collaboration strengthens the emirate’s capacity to provide effective and sustainable transportation services and encourages ongoing improvement to raise service standards, support innovation and technology, and strengthen key industries.
Participants in the signing ceremony discussed the ITC’s experience in creating a smart and sustainable transportation system that supports sustainable development goals, enhances road safety and security, and makes it easier for Abu Dhabi residents and visitors to move around the city. This system is in line with the vision of the wise leadership of the UAE.
The ITC is embracing several innovative projects that promote the objectives of holistic development and apply the idea of sustainable development in the transportation sector, like the introduction of the first hydrogen-powered taxi and Automated Rapid Transit (ART). Adopting contemporary technologies and environmentally sustainable practices helps achieve this. As a result, the ITC is working to create a future where everyone has access to convenient and safe transportation options that meet the highest international standards by creating new transport solutions that guarantee an effective and seamless traffic flow.
