Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, alongside other dignitaries, inaugurated the Al Hefaiyah Lake in Kalba (Kalba Lake) on Saturday, introducing a strategic water reservoir surrounded by a picturesque 3.17km dual-lane road for tourists to enjoy the scenery. Located along the Sharjah-Kalba Road near the Al Hiyar Tunnel, this urban infrastructure development aims not only to supply water but also to enhance the area’s natural beauty.

The lake spans 132,000 square meters, with a capacity of 155 million gallons and a depth of up to four meters. It utilizes advanced technology and construction materials suitable for its hilly environment, including a water conduit and systems for surplus water storage, rainwater collection, and valley runoff management. Additionally, the site features barriers and filters to ensure the lake’s water remains free of contaminants and sediment.
Al Hefaiyah Lake is complemented by 11.7km of mountain trails offering various paths for hiking enthusiasts and a shaded play area for children, complete with vibrant rubber flooring for leisure activities. The inauguration also spotlighted the Al Hefaiyah Mosque, accommodating 495 worshippers and designed in the Fatimid style, enriching the spiritual landscape of the area.
The event featured a drone show, expressing Kalba’s gratitude to the Sharjah Ruler for his development efforts with visuals of local attractions and the message “Thank you, Sultan.” The project also includes the Al Hefaiyah Rest House, offering visitors a panoramic view of the lake and mountains, complete with a restaurant and café. This initiative marks a significant step towards blending urban development with environmental preservation and recreational facilities in Sharjah.
