Dubai: Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Dubai, has launched a new initiative aimed at promoting soft mobility solutions in the picturesque town of Hatta. The RTA, in collaboration with Lime, a global micro-mobility provider, has introduced individual mobility stations featuring bikes and e-scooters at 11 strategic locations along a 9 KM route.
Hatta, known for its unique geographical location, environmental diversity, cultural richness, and wide range of entertainment options, seeks to keep pace with ongoing advancements by offering diverse options for individual mobility experiences.
During the trial phase in the first quarter of 2023, the bike and e-scooter stations attracted a significant turnout from various segments of the community. A total of 1,902 trips were recorded during this period, with e-scooters accounting for 984 trips and bikes and mountain bikes contributing to the remaining 918 trips. Impressively, statistics revealed that 93 percent of users were satisfied with the services provided.
Visitors and residents of Hatta now have the opportunity to explore the breathtaking landscapes and mountainous environment of this renowned tourist destination in Dubai by renting individual mobility means such as bikes, e-scooters, and mountain bikes. In total, there are 600 shared mobility options available, including 250 e-scooters, 250 bikes, and 150 mountain bikes. These vehicles can be driven along tracks stretching 11.5 KM, providing an enjoyable and eco-friendly way to navigate the town.
To ensure convenient access for riders, the individual mobility stations and rest stops are strategically located across Hatta’s tourist hotspots. The 11 sites include prominent locations such as the Hatta Heritage Village, next to Wadi Hatta Park, Hatta Hill Park, the public bus station, and Hatta Valley.
The introduction of these individual mobility stations reflects the RTA’s commitment to enhancing transportation options in Dubai and adapting to the evolving needs of its residents and visitors. By providing a convenient and sustainable means of exploring Hatta’s natural beauty, the RTA aims to further promote tourism and outdoor activities in this picturesque town.
