Dubai: Rain continued in various parts of the United Arab Emirates early Sunday morning, with forecasts predicting more showers across the UAE today. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) reported light rain in Abu Dhabi locales including Al Nouf, Al Hudariyat Island, Al Bateen, Al Aim, and Ghantout, as well as some internal and western areas of Dubai such as Lahbab, Al Yufrah, and Jebel Ali.
Social media platform Instagram, through the account @storm_ae, shared footage of the light to moderate rain showers affecting Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. The NCM has forecasted partly cloudy to cloudy skies for today, with the possibility of intermittent rain.
Authorities urge the public to carry rain protection and to exercise increased caution while driving on slippery roads. The Abu Dhabi Police have specifically called on motorists to heed changing speed limits on electronic boards and to avoid areas prone to flooding.
The unsettled weather pattern is expected to last until Tuesday, March 26. During this period, drivers are especially advised to slow down and steer clear of wadis and flood-prone regions. The NCM also warns of moderate relative humidity, strong winds of 20 to 30 km/h that could gust up to 45 km/h, and rough sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf.
