Dubai: The Organizing Committee of the first Gulf Youth Games has revealed that all sports facilities in the five host Emirates, which include Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, and Fujairah, are ready for the event.
In cooperation with the General Sports Authority, sports councils, and the National Olympic Committee, they have made sure that all requirements and equipment are available.
3,500 men and women athletes from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will compete in 25 individual and team sports during the first Gulf Youth Games, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates from April 16 to May 2, with the theme “Our Gulf is One… Our Youth is Promising.”
Football, swimming, boxing, judo, track cycling, sailing, and jiu-jitsu competitions will all take place in Abu Dhabi. Table tennis, volleyball, athletics, e-sports, resolute athletic events, and golf contests will be held in Dubai.
There will be competitions in Sharjah for 3×3 basketball, handball, karate, chess, archery, and equestrian sports like dressage and show jumping. Ajman is the location of triathlon contests, while Fujairah is the site of taekwondo, fencing, and badminton events.
The head of the technical committee for the inaugural Gulf Youth Games, “UAE 2024,” Nabil Ashour, emphasized the committee’s commitment to meeting all GCC teams’ demands, including training facilities, supplies, and facilities.
The UAE has a distinguished record for arranging major athletic events, which is further evidenced by its historic hosting of the first edition. With just a few more steps to go before complete clearance, Ashour verified that 99 percent of the stadiums and sports facilities nominated to hold official competitions have gotten approval.
Nabil Ashour also said that the tournament organizing committee worked with the relevant federations to decide how to divide up the games across the various regions of the nation.
Padel competitions will take center stage in Dubai, while handball competitions will take place in Sharjah, demonstrating the popularity of these sports in the Emirates.
Nabil Ashour made it clear that the competing teams’ arrival dates will change based on the competition schedule. It is anticipated that every team will come one day before the technical meeting that precedes their games.
