Fujairah: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) dispatched its third aid ship to the Gaza Strip, carrying a total of 4,630 tonnes of humanitarian supplies. The vessel set off yesterday from the Port of Fujairah, bound for Al Arish, Egypt, from where the aid will be directed to Gaza as part of Operation “Gallant Knight 3.”
The cargo includes 4,218.3 tonnes of food items, 370.2 tonnes of shelter materials, and 41.6 tonnes of medical supplies. Additionally, it contains vital resources such as six water tanks, two septic tanks, and a diesel storage tank, all aimed at addressing the urgent needs of the residents in the Gaza Strip.
This humanitarian initiative is a collaborative effort, with contributions from the Emirates Red Crescent, the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation. A fleet of 267 trucks played a crucial role in transporting the aid to the ship, showcasing the UAE’s commitment to delivering substantial relief to those in need.
Beyond the maritime mission, Operation “Gallant Knight 3” encompasses several key projects designed to enhance the living conditions in Gaza. The UAE has established two field hospitals—one inside Gaza and a floating hospital near Al Arish—to provide critical medical care. Moreover, the operation has seen the launch of five automatic bakeries and the supply of flour to eight existing ones, ensuring the availability of bread, a staple food item.
Addressing the water scarcity issue, six desalination plants have been installed, capable of producing 1.2 million gallons of water daily. This initiative is set to benefit over 600,000 residents by supplying fresh water directly into the Gaza Strip.
Complementing the sea and land aid, the UAE’s Joint Operations Command initiated Operation “Birds of Goodness,” a unique endeavor to airdrop 486 tonnes of humanitarian supplies into isolated areas of northern Gaza that are inaccessible by land.
