Dubai: Kerala has been chosen as the host for the upcoming Zayed Charity Marathon, an event held in memory of the founding father of the UAE Sheikh Zayed, in a meeting of UAE officials and Kerala Chief Minister Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan.
During the meeting in Dubai, the Organising Committee of the Zayed Charity Marathon, under the leadership of Chairman Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hilal Al Kaabi, met with Kerala Chief Minister, who was on a visit. Joining them were the Indian Ambassador to the UAE Mr. Sunjay Sudhir, as well as esteemed members of the Higher Organising Committee of the Zayed Charity Marathon, including Hamoud Abdullah Al Junaibi and Ahmed Mohammed Al Kaabi.
Notably, the meeting also saw the presence of Mr. Yusuffali MA, the prominent NRI businessman and chairman of LuLu Group International. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss and strategize the forthcoming marathon, which holds immense significance as it brings together key figures from the UAE and India. This collaborative effort indicates a shared commitment towards the success of this charitable event, further strengthening the bond between the two nations.
This marks a historic milestone as it will be the inaugural edition of the charity marathon in India. The aim of the event is to raise funds to support advancements in the health sector. Officials have confirmed that the Zayed Charity Marathon will take place in Kerala later this year, coinciding with the UAE National Day.
Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his delight upon Kerala being chosen as the host for this prestigious event. Mr. Sanjay Sudhir emphasized the favorable influence of the marathon on the amicable relations between the UAE and India, underscoring its potential to bolster the bond between the two nations even further.
The Government of Kerala will constitute a High-Level Steering Committee to coordinate and decide on various technical aspects of the program. The Indian Embassy will coordinate various aspects of organizing this event. The organizing expenses of the event will be fully covered by the UAE authorities. In this regard, Lt. General Al Kaabi expressed gratitude to Mr. Yousaffali and extended special thanks for his efforts. The meeting was attended by Mr. Hamood Abdullah Al Junaibi, Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Kaabi, and other members of the high-level organizing committee of the Zayed Charity Marathon.
