Dubai: The fifth and the largest edition of the Gov Games to date concluded today at the Dubai Festival City under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
194 teams from all over the world competed in the most competitive tournament to date during the four-day event, which was organized in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council and Official Partner DP World. More than AED2.8 million ($756,000) in prize money was won across four categories, including the first-ever category for youth.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, who opened the Junior Gov Games, stated that the fact that teams from all over the world participated in such a huge way in the Gov Games’ largest edition demonstrated the event’s international scope. Sheikh Hamdan observed that such widespread engagement reflects the spirit of Dubai and its unwavering dedication to excellence, encouraging participants to enhance their preparedness and maintain leadership attributes.
Congratulating the winners, the Crown Prince praised the high level of competitiveness displayed across all categories. “The teams embodied the competition’s ethos of fostering a positive community impact by promoting a healthy lifestyle. They demonstrated fitness, cooperation and a commitment to excellence,” Sheikh Hamdan said.
Ayoub Al Mulla, Chief Operating Officer, We One DP World, and Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary-General of the Dubai Executive Council, saw the crowning of the Gov Games 2024 victors.
Over 17,000 people attended the fifth edition of Gov Games, with many of them being families. Leaders from a range of government agencies also attended the competition to encourage and assist their peers.
