Abu Dhabi: Environment Agency Abu Dhabi’s (EAD) has launched the X71 automated licencing service for industrial facilities in cooperation with its strategic partners. The move is aimed at accelerating sustainable economic and industrial development in Abu Dhabi.
The service will facilitate the licencing process of industrial facilities in specific and environmentally studied areas as well as enable investors to receive the environmental licence in 6 minutes. It will further help attract international industrial investments while increasing the emirate’s competitiveness without compromising the environment or the emirate’s resources.
EAD signed two agreements with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) and Abu Dhabi Ports (AD Ports) to create incentives for EAD’s Green Industries Labelling program. The agreements were signed by Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of EAD; Mr. Rashed Abdulkarim Al Blooshi, Undersecretary of ADDED; and Mr. Mohamed Al Khadar Al Ahmed, CEO of the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD) Group.
The automated licencing service will contribute to preserving the environment as the specified industrial areas, including KEZAD, are already located in studied areas with less environmental sensitivity than others.
Mr. Al Blooshi commented that “signing this MoU with the Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi reflects our commitment to moving forward in building a diversified, smart, circular, and sustainable economy and working to achieve the goals of the UAE’s strategy for climate neutrality in 2050 by providing appropriate conditions for economic establishments in the emirate to adopt sustainable practices.”
“One of the pillars on which KEZAD relies in its business model is providing full support to investors. There is no doubt that developing and facilitating the environmental licencing procedures for industrial facilities would enhance the chances of attracting industrial investments and increasing competitiveness in a way that contributes to achieving Abu Dhabi’s industrial strategy,” Mr. Al Ahmed remarked.
