Dubai: The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has unveiled a rich program for the “School of Life” project, which includes four clubs: Books, Languages, Painting, and Chess in keeping with the Authority’s pledges to promote a sustainable creative ecosystem at Dubai’s public libraries.
These clubs are designed to encourage community members to discover the aesthetics of languages, musical expressions, and narrative arts. “School of Life” offers a wide range of workshops in Arabic, English, and French to celebrate languages.
The “Languages in Poetry” workshop at Al Safa Art and Design Library will delve into the experiences of Emirati poet Afra Atiq at the Sikka Art and Design Festival. Meanwhile, Sachin Sanjay’s “An Introduction to Writing Your First Short Film” workshop at Hor Al Anz Library will provide insight into the screenwriting process.
“Exploring Calligraphy Across Languages” will be held at the Al Mankhool Public Library. Yubran David will lead students through an exploration of the various language-specific calligraphic expressions in this seminar.
Al Safa Art & Design Library will have a women-only “Pages of Connection” session as part of the “Book Club” events. Participants will examine Jacqueline Harman’s poignant post-apocalyptic tale of female intimacy and companionship in the devastated world.
Al Safa Art and Design Library’s “Discover French For Kids” program covers self-introduction and covers the fundamentals of the French language as part of the “Languages Club” activities.
The chess tournament will be hosted by Levi Dano Mercado, while kids in the “Painting Club” will enjoy a “Masterpiece Art Gallery” session at Al Safa Art and Design Library to explore their artistic side by painting and showcasing their masterpieces.
