Dubai: Dubai Sports Council (DSC) is set to launch the Dubai Open Football Academies Tournament (DOFA) as part of the council’s strategy to attract and develop sports talents.
The biggest of its kind tournament’s details, including the numbers and names of participating teams, will be declared in a press conference on October 5 at DSC’s premises. The organizational side of the event will be handled by Inspiratus Co. and Delta Sports Events Co. in collaboration with the UAE Football Association.
The tournament is an eminent addition to the juniors and football academies sector in Dubai, and it is scheduled from October 2023 to March 2024. Participants of both genders will compete in different age groups, including U 8, U 9, U 10, U 12, U 14, U 16, and U 18.

According to reports, the tournament integrates the considerable efforts exerted by DSC during the last period to attract and develop sports talents through the organization of several football academies championships, which have all attained remarkable technical success and contributed to the increase of the number of academies in Dubai.
The tournament will draw participation from several academies affiliated with Dubai clubs and sports academies that are licensed in the Emirate of Dubai.
DSC has invited all academies to participate in the tournament. A detailed explanation was made for the conditions and regulations of the competitions, comprising technical specifications and stadiums’ dimensions for each category, among other factors according to accredited international standards that contribute to scout football talents.
