Dubai: Dubai Sports Council (DSC), in association with ESM Co., will conduct the Dubai Schools Games. It is the biggest sports tournament of its kind in Dubai and represents the first step for scouting and developing sports talents before moving on to join clubs.
The Tournament aims to advance the school’s awareness of the importance of sports and physical activities as a vital way to boost physical and mental health and enjoy a happy life. The Organizing Committee has arranged coordination meetings with the DSC to discuss the most recent preparations for the upcoming launch of the 4th edition of the Tournament.
The meetings focused on reviewing and finalizing the rules and regulations for the various competitions and incorporating the Olympic Games plan, ensuring that all Olympic events could be included in the Tournament. Additionally, efforts were made to generate comprehensive reports on the talented athletes selected from all the competitions. Participation is free for all schools and students from 9 to 19 years old.
The Talent Scouting Programme is implemented across all sports competitions, where representatives from Dubai clubs actively participate. Their role is to scout for promising talents and closely monitor their performance and progress throughout the competitions.
Each participant has a sports file to utilise when they move to the university stage or when they join a sports club. The last sports season saw huge success, and more than 5,000 students from 220 governmental and private schools competed in 22 sports competitions.
