Abu Dhabi: The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) continues to coordinate with affiliates and strategic partners in response to the adverse weather conditions witnessed across Abu Dhabi.
Through proactive measures taken in response to the interruption caused by strong winds and unusual downpours, progress has been achieved in ensuring the continuation of services and infrastructure throughout the emirate.
Collaborating with relevant parties, DMT implemented feasible strategies in advance of the storm to lessen its projected effects on neighborhood infrastructure. DMT moved quickly to implement its emergency contingency plan as soon as specialized personnel established that the impact of strong winds and heavy rainfall would be worse than anticipated.
Emergency response teams were sent out almost once, and they worked all night to help people in the areas, from residential villages to major highways, that were most affected by the record-breaking rains. Response teams, tasked with ensuring the community’s safety, concentrated on meeting infrastructure needs, such as road, drainage, and landscaping networks, in addition to cleaning the streets and clearing obstructions produced by powerful winds.
Teams continue to work throughout the emirate, and officials stay in close contact with companies and citizens to resolve issues and offer assistance as needed. According to DMT, a taskforce has been established specifically to look into the effects of this week’s weather and how communities might be best prepared for similar situations in the future.
DMT praised the sense of camaraderie that was evident throughout the emirate this week, praised the emergency response agencies for their dedicated work, and reiterated its recommendation that all citizens exercise caution and heed instructions from authorized sources.
