Abu Dhabi: The Department of Municipalities and Transport – Abu Dhabi (DMT) has unveiled Abu Dhabi Mobility Week, which will happen for the first time from April 24 to May 1, 2024.
This week-long celebration will feature innovative announcements, thought-provoking forums, and exciting showcases aimed at reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a global leader in smart and autonomous mobility. A dynamic series of events is set to redefine the future of transportation in the Emirate.
On April 24, the DMT will present a comprehensive mobility strategy for the Emirate to start the Abu Dhabi Mobility Week. This strategy framework, which covers land transport, aviation, and maritime operations in addition to driver and vehicle licensing services, demonstrates DMT’s dedication to influencing the direction of mobility in the area.
Reflecting on the significance of the week-long initiative, Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the DMT, said that, “Abu Dhabi Mobility Week encapsulates our steadfast commitment to spearheading transformative advancements in mobility. The ground-breaking mobility strategy to be revealed during this seminal event will not only underscore our unwavering dedication to innovation but also serve as an authoritative testament to our enduring vision for progressive transformation within the realm of transportation.”
Additionally, the DMT disclosed that it will serve as the official host for the first DRIFTx event, scheduled for April 24–26. The multidisciplinary leadership and exhibition platform, which is being organized in association with the Smart and Autonomous Vehicles Industry (SAVI) Cluster and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), will bring together global leaders and innovators, including organizations, regulatory bodies, and more, in Abu Dhabi to explore and discuss smart, autonomous, and sustainable mobility solutions for land, air, and sea.
On April 27, racing fans are in for a very special, heart-pounding treat. Teams from the UAE, USA, Europe, China, and Singapore will compete in the inaugural high-profile autonomous races of the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL) at Yas Marina Circuit. With a prize pool of $2.25 million (about AED 8 million), the event promises to be an exciting spectacle that highlights the state-of-the-art autonomous Dallara Super Formula SF23 open-wheel vehicles.
The Mobility Live ME conference, of which the DMT is a strategic partner, will take place from April 30 to May 1 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, capping up the week. It will bring together experts from the industry, technologists, and life experiences to promote cooperation and research in sustainable mobility.
