Dubai: The World Governments Summit (WGS) and Accenture (NYSE: ACN) have released a new report that outlines important strategies for government organizations using generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) ethically and efficiently.
The “How Can Government Agencies Responsibly Navigate the AI Landscape to Implement High Impact Generative AI Solutions?” report was released during WGS 2024. It provides suggestions for resolving some difficulties encountered while incorporating Gen AI into government services.
The report highlights the potential of Gen AI to revolutionize human-AI interaction and government work. It emphasizes the need for ethical management of Gen AI to prevent unreliable outputs, biases, and workforce displacement while ensuring confidentiality, security, and adherence to regulations, while also mitigating risks of unreliable outputs and workforce displacement.
Gianmario Pisanu, managing director in Health & Public Services at Accenture in the Middle East, remarked that, “Gen AI can significantly improve government services by reducing administrative burdens and enabling government employees to focus on critical human-based services. Government agencies must proactively invest in the work processes, culture and skilling required for employees and residents to thrive and for entities to harness Gen AI’s full potential. This will also mitigate concerns such as biased service delivery, cybersecurity vulnerabilities, misinformation, and potential job augmentation.”
The report highlights the need for public sector leaders to balance productivity and efficiency with concerns about the impact of technology on jobs, society, and humanity. It suggests that public discourse on Gen AI often diverges from citizen-focused topics and calls for increased government engagement in proactive planning for Gen AI.
WGS 2024 will host over 4,000 participants from public and private sectors in 110 interactive sessions, featuring 200 speakers from 80 international organizations.
The event will also welcome eight Nobel prize winners and host 23 ministerial meetings with over 300 ministers. In partnership with knowledge partners, the Summit will launch over 25 strategic reports focusing on key practices and trends in vital sectors.
