Dubai: The UAE National Olympic Committee, led by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has highlighted the UAE’s growth as a significant hub for soft power under the leadership of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Sheikh Ahmed stated that sports play a crucial role in this development, serving as one of the key pillars of the nation’s strategic and influential position.
He emphasized the responsibility of sports delegations participating in future forums to represent their country in the best possible manner and strive for outstanding results. According to Sheikh Ahmed, sports championships serve as a benchmark for measuring athletes’ progress and performance.
Sheikh Ahmed underlined the importance of supporting UAE athletes by providing them with all necessary resources and tools to excel and achieve top positions in various sporting events. This commitment extends to the upcoming 15th edition of the Pan Arab Games, which will be hosted for the first time in Algeria this July.
The National Olympic Committee has already announced that the UAE will send a team of 131 athletes to compete in the 15th Pan Arab Games. This delegation will include 80 male and 51 female athletes representing 15 different sports, such as volleyball, athletics, boxing, judo, swimming, karate, badminton, cycling, weightlifting, table tennis, fencing, chess, as well as wheelchair basketball and athletics for people of determination.
