Dubai: The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) has introduced silver coins with the official mascots of Expo 2020 Dubai.
This is the second commemorative coin issued to celebrate this global mega event. The first gold and silver commemorative coins were released when the UAE won the bid to host the Expo.
The central bank said in a statement that the coins emphasize the significance of this much-anticipated event, as well as the UAE’s significant efforts to make it a success.
According to the reports, the CBUAE will issue 2020 silver coins with a weight of 40 grams each. The mascots of Expo 2020 and Dubai’s most famous landmark will be featured on the coin’s front face. The nominal value can be seen along with the name of the UAE in both Arabic and English on the backside of the coin.
All commemorative coins can be purchased through the official Expo 2020 retailers and will also be available on the New Zealand Mint’s website. According to the statement, they will be available for purchase at $180. (AED 662). The coins will not be sold in the Central Bank’s headquarters or branch offices.
The Expo 2020 will be conducted from October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022. The event site which spreads across 4.38 square kilometers in Dubai South, will welcome 192 countries, marking the first time in World Expo history that each participating country would have its own pavilion. The global event is expected to attract millions of visitors from around the globe.
