Abu Dhabi: The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) has introduced an initiative to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) services into the Federal Digital Network (FedNet). This move marks a significant milestone in the UAE’s digital transformation journey and is poised to revolutionize the services provided by FedNet to government entities by harnessing the immense potential of AI.
Mr. Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, the Director-General of TDRA, expressed his enthusiasm for this development, stating that AI services on the AI-supported FedNet represent a crucial step in the digital transformation process. By facilitating easy and rapid service delivery to customers, this initiative underscores TDRA’s role as a catalyst for digital transformation.
In collaboration with Microsoft and Kagool, a Microsoft advanced solutions partner specializing in data and AI, the new version of FedNet will encompass three key service pillars. The first pillar, Applied AI, aims to enhance productivity and efficiency by reducing developers’ time spent on updating procedures and processes. It will also involve analyzing conversations to improve customer experiences and automating document processing to expedite workflow mechanisms. The second pillar, Cognitive AI, involves simulating human behavior and thinking to solve complex problems, leading to more accurate results. The third pillar, machine learning, employs algorithms that enable computers to learn autonomously by analyzing large sets of data, extracting valuable insights, and converting them into actionable information.
FedNet is a vital enabler of the UAE’s digital government initiatives, garnering significant attention due to its strategic importance and role in the digital transformation process. It currently supports over 35 federal entities and hosts more than 5,000 virtual servers. In 2023, FedNet attained the VMware Cloud Verified certificate for the sovereign cloud category, signifying its adherence to the highest cybersecurity and national privacy standards. All data stored and processed within FedNet comply with relevant UAE laws.
With the incorporation of AI services and its fortified infrastructure featuring high-speed Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), FedNet has evolved into an advanced AI platform. This empowers government entities with the agility to develop and deploy high-quality AI solutions and models in the visual, audio, and linguistic domains. Through application programming interfaces (APIs), administrators gain the ability to leverage big data analysis and machine learning, facilitating informed decision-making.
The integration of AI into FedNet marks a significant stride toward transforming government services, streamlining operations, and delivering enhanced experiences to citizens and customers. It positions the UAE as a trailblazer in leveraging AI for national development and sets the stage for future advancements in the realm of digital transformation.
