Sharjah: Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone (SPC Free Zone) has recently formed more than ten promising partnerships with renowned Arab and international publishers, solidifying its position as a thriving hub for the publishing industry. Publishers from Sweden, Egypt, and Algeria have chosen to establish branches of their publishing houses in Sharjah, taking advantage of the comprehensive services and ecosystem provided by the emirate to cater to investors in the publishing and creative sectors and enable them to access global markets.
During the 32nd edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), SPCFZ participated under the Sharjah Book Authority pavilion and engaged in productive meetings with over 50 publishers from around the world who expressed interest in establishing branches in Sharjah. The discussions focused on highlighting the efforts and facilities available in the emirate to support the publishing and creative industries.
SPCFZ, which currently hosts over 2,000 companies from 60 countries, showcased its extensive network and range of services designed to facilitate the operations of publishers. These services include translation, distribution, book promotion, printing, shipping, and assistance with obtaining commercial licenses. By emphasizing its commitment to advancing the book and knowledge sector, the free zone aims to create an environment conducive to various publishing, printing, and related enterprises, fostering the establishment, expansion, and exploration of new markets to propel the global publishing industry to greater heights.
Mr. Mansour Al Hassani, Director of Publisher Services at SBA, and Acting Director of SPCFZ, stated that, “SPCFZ’s active engagement in local and international exhibitions forms a pivotal component of our overarching strategy, aimed at amplifying awareness of the emirate’s visionary aspirations. Visitors to the SPCFZ pavilion at ADIBF were presented with a comprehensive overview of the benefits of joining the free zone, which include competitive rental rates, cutting-edge shipping services, and state-of-the-art office spaces equipped with the latest technologies. Since its establishment in 2017, SPCFZ has achieved significant milestones in hosting companies and institutions operating in the publishing, printing, distribution, and book manufacturing sectors.
