New York City: Saudi Arabia is reportedly not included in Miss Universe contest. The Miss Universe Organization clarified that the news is merely speculative, emphasizing that the circulating reports are incorrect and that no selection processes have taken place in Saudi Arabia thus far.
The selection of contestants for the Miss Universe contest involves a rigorous scrutiny process that adheres to its guidelines and policies. The organization employs clear methods to find representatives from each country, ensuring the selection process is transparent. Currently, contestants from 100 countries are participating in the Miss Universe contest held in Mexico, with Saudi Arabia not among them. ‘The decision on which countries’ participants are allowed to compete is made by our approval committee,’ the Miss Universe Organization stated in a press release.
Reports had emerged that Rumy Alqahtani would represent Saudi Arabia in the contest. The model even confirmed this news on her social media, expressing pride in having the opportunity to participate and describing it as Saudi Arabia’s debut in the competition.
Rumy Alqahtani, hailing from Saudi Arabia, had previously participated in the Miss and Mrs. Global Asian contest held in Malaysia. In addition to the Miss Saudi Arabia crown, Rumy has also secured titles such as Miss Middle East (Saudi Arabia), Miss Arab World Peace 2021, and Miss Woman (Saudi Arabia). She boasts one million followers on Instagram and approximately two thousand on X. Last year, the Miss Universe crown was won by Sheinisse Palacios from Nicaragua.
