Abu Dhabi: The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) has organized a Nuclear Innovation & Technology Summer School program. It was conducted in cooperation with Khalifa University and the Emirates Nuclear Technology Center.
The program aimed to educate and prepare university students for the growing nuclear energy market requirements while enhancing the sustainability of the UAE’s nuclear energy industry.
The educational program focused on developing their technical, innovative, and entrepreneurial skills to compete in this vital sector. The program is also intended to collaborate with national and international nuclear innovation partners to exchange knowledge across multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary entities and develop professional as well as personal skills.
The Nuclear Innovation & Technology Summer School helped students understand the current nuclear energy renaissance from different perspectives, including those of vendors, investors, environmentalists, engineers, and entrepreneurs, as per the statement.
It enabled them to reach a realistic perspective of the power sector and the advantages and disadvantages of different energy sources in balancing the power grid.
ENEC’s Barakah Plant currently offers educational opportunities and specialized jobs with a minimum 60-year operational lifespan, fostering long-term careers for thousands of UAE nationals in the industry.
As ENEC explores advanced technologies and clean molecule generation, more avenues will open for skilled young UAE nationals to join the clean energy sector.
The Barakah Plant is now one unit away from full-fleet operations. The Plant plays a key role in the UAE’s clean energy transition. It is also the first multi-unit operating Plant in the Arab world. Barakah already generates more than 80 percent of Abu Dhabi’s clean electricity.
