Dubai: Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) has announced the line-up of new races for its 2022–2023 season. This followed the Board of Directors’ vision to expand the range of activities and create inclusive opportunities for all members of society.
In accordance with 2023 as the “Year of Sustainability” with the theme “Today for Tomorrow,” the sports season details several races that promote environmental awareness and highlight the heritage of the UAE.
These endeavors are intended to foster community engagement in bolstering the national strategy for environmental sustainability. One of the significant expansions is the Wing Foil category, which is being introduced in the Dubai Kitesurf Open Competition. The competition is conducted by the Dubai International Marine Club for the sixth consecutive season and takes place at Dubai Islands. The event is managed by the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation and held in partnership with the Emirates Kiteboarding Association.
The Wing Foil race has already garnered significant attention and interest from kitesurfing enthusiasts, including both male and female competitors from the UAE national team, as well as residents and expatriates, as per the statement.
Moreover, at the 26th Al Maktoum Cup held in December 2022, the club arranged a festival incorporating the inaugural Virtual Rowing Challenge. This event, in collaboration with PowerFit Gym, proved to be a remarkable triumph, drawing a diverse audience of rowing and bodybuilding enthusiasts, including both UAE citizens and residents.
Dubai International Marine Club’s new races and initiatives mark their commitment to promoting marine sports, environmental sustainability, and community engagement in the upcoming season.
