Dubai: Dubai Municipality has completed the Clock Tower Roundabout Development Project in Deira at a cost of $2.7 million. The project has rejuvenated the iconic landmark, leading to a significant transformation.
The Municipality has paid careful attention to details while renovating the area. They have added beautiful scenic views by combining sturdy flooring with lovely garden features. The highlight of this revamped roundabout is the impressive water fountain, now with a modern design.
The project shows how committed the Municipality is to both preserving the city’s history and embracing modernity. The Clock Tower Roundabout has been redesigned to match Dubai’s urban style while honoring its historical importance.
Mr. Dawoud Al Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, stated that, “We completed the development of the Clock Tower Roundabout in Deira, one of the most prominent engineering and architectural landmarks in Dubai, on schedule, giving it a new facade with modern designs that are aligned with the nation’s cultural and historical character and the city’s status as a vibrant creative hub. The project reflects Dubai Municipality’s commitment to transforming key landmarks and further enhancing the city’s attractiveness, cultural vitality, and aesthetic ambience.”
The Clock Tower Roundabout underwent upgrades like floor renovations, a redesigned water fountain with adjustable water levels and colorful lighting, and a fresh coat of paint on its structural framework, which includes unique elements like textured concrete and 3D design.
The redevelopment project also added sustainable agricultural features by planting ‘Ground Cover Sisifium’ in the inner basins. Moreover, the area was made more beautiful with Washingtonia palms planted near the clock tower’s pillars. These palms are complemented by three layers of wildflowers, which create beautiful and distinct color patterns, providing visitors with a breathtaking view.
The updated lighting system for the roundabout features mapping, 3D formats, and photographic displays for use during national ceremonies and events.
