Dubai: The Technical Support Department of Dubai Customs in Warsan has hosted a delegation from Abu Dhabi Nawah Energy Company, a specialist in nuclear energy.
The purpose of the visit was to understand the effective trade control measures and inspection systems implemented by Dubai Customs. These measures play a crucial role in safeguarding borders and preventing the smuggling of illegal goods.
The delegation was received by Mr. Adel Al Suwaidi, Director of the Technical Support department, Mr. Khalid Al Shamsi, Senior Manager of the Technical Services and Development section, Mr. Salah Al Sammach, Technical Support Expert, Mr. Majid Al Zarouni, Special Units Manager, Mr. Abdullah Al Mazmi, Technical Services Manager, and Mr. Efaf Mohammed, Assistant Government Partnership Officer.
The Nawah team received an overview of the crucial duties of Dubai Customs’ Technical Support Department. They were introduced to the department’s role in equipping border checkpoints with advanced inspection and scanning systems.
These technologies are aimed at expediting inspection processes and enhancing the effectiveness of Dubai Customs operations across Dubai’s land, air, and sea entry points.
The delegation was also introduced to the Customs K9 unit and its crucial role in assisting inspection operations. This is especially significant in preventing the illicit entry of narcotics, weapons, explosives, and other banned items often concealed within commercial shipments.
The Dubai Customs dogs unit plays a vital part in ensuring effective inspections by efficiently detecting smuggled materials with remarkable precision.
Trainers from the Technical Services and Development section provided the delegation with information about a novel simulation program designed for training inspectors. They detailed how the program operates and how inspectors receive training on screening devices.
Inspectors undergo regular assessments to enhance their proficiency in interpreting scanning images of cargo containers and passenger luggage. This training helps them identify potential security or radiation threats and recognize any forbidden items effectively.
